Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Ynez Valley, 2008

The grapes for our Sauvignon Blanc showcase two vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley as well as our estate vineyard. The Jack McGinley Vineyard (formerly Westerly) is in the far eastern part of the Valley known as Happy Canyon, with the Valley View Vineyard a bit further west and closer to the Santa Ynez River. These grapes are complemented with fruit from our estate vineyard on Ballard Canyon. The grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed and then cold fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the crispness and varietal characteristics. The wine was bottled in January 2009, allowed a few months of bottle aging and released in September.

This beautifully dry white wine is perfumed with aromas of honey dew melon, pears and spun sugar. These aromas merge with flavors of Meyer lemon and pineapple on the palate and finish with a sensation that is both fruity and crisp.
