Pinot Noir, RESERVE, Santa Rita Hills,
2006
Santa Rita Hills has quickly become a Santa Barbara
County favorite location for Pinot Noir vineyards.
Our 2006 Pinot Noir Reserve is a classic example of
the ultra premium quality that this area can produce.
The wine has seductive aroma qualities of wild berries,
rhubarb and camphor. The flavors of black cherry,
cinnamon, combined with velvety tannins complete this
elegant offering.
The grapes for our 2006 Reserve bottling of Pinot
Noir hail from two vineyards within the Santa Rita
Hills: Fiddlestix Vineyard on the southwest side of
the Santa Ynez River and Rancho Santa Rosa to the
north of the river. Upon delivery to the winery, the
grapes were gently de-stemmed, the cold soaked before
the onset of fermentation. The fermenting must was
then punched down by hand twice each day. The new
wine was then aged in a mixture of new (40%) and older
French oak barrels for 10 months prior to bottling.
Only 496 cases of the Reserve Pinot Noir, Santa Rita
Hills was produced.
